Program Format: 

New Certificate: Available to those who do not have a previous BLS certificate, or it has already expired. All required BLS skills will be covered in a 3-hrs In-Person Skills Practice class.

Re-Certification or Renewal of a Current BLS Certificate: 2-hrs In-Person Skills Review class

Program Content: 

• CPR training for adults, children and infants (one-rescuer and two-rescuer)

• Relief of foreign body airway obstructions for adults, children and infants 

• Use of an automatic external defibrillator (AED)  

• Use of bag-valve mask/Ambu-bag

Certification:

Canadian Red Cross certification is issued upon completion of program requirements.

Canadian Red Cross certification for Basic Life Support (HCP) is valid for 1 year. 

Participant Materials Included:

• Canadian Red Cross Basic Life Support Field Guide (Digital PDF)

• Basic Life Support HCP certificates (digital wall and wallet size certificates)

New Certificate: 3-hrs Skills Practice Class

Re-Certification: 2-hrs Skills Review Class

• Class times are approximate and may end earlier; dependent on participants' competency

• Prompt start time is required; participants must be ready at start of the class
