Babysitter's Course
Because caring for
children, is more than just child's play.
As parents of young children,
has your favourite babysitter taken a Babysitter’s
course?
For many young adolescents,
babysitting is their first job, and Vital CPR
can help them become real "pros"! The
Babysitting
course will help them keep the children safe and
sound by learning:
- Important
child care skills
- Safety
tips for children of all ages
- How
to cope with common problems, like tantrums
and crying
- What
to do if anything makes the babysitter uncomfortable
- Some
great games and other ideas for having fun with
the kids while babysitting
- How
to make the children's environment safe and
enjoyable
- What
are the respective rights and responsibilities
of the babysitter and the family hiring one
What to do in case of an
emergency?
Emergencies sometimes
do happen, even to the best babysitters. The Babysitting
course teaches how to handle emergencies with
confidence by providing the basic first aid skills
for such common problems as:
- Choking
- Sprains
and Strains
- Bleeding
-
Poisoning
- Burns
- Fire
emergency
- And
more!
If you love children
and you would like to baby sit, or already do, or
if you know someone who might need babysitting
training, the Babysitting Course is only 8 hours
long and is also offered as a group course.
The Canadian Red Cross
Babysitting Course is sponsored by Zellers.
Participants receive the Babysitter’s Manual
that’s theirs to use during the course and to take
with them on babysitting jobs. The manual has
checklists, activities and game ideas, a sample
resume, business cards and as a bonus, Zellers
coupons totalling $16 off products just for teens.
Requirements:
Each child is encouraged to bring a doll, or a
stuffed animal without a tail. These will be
used as aids in teaching the fine art of changing
a diaper. Participants must be 11 years of
age and older.
This course is not
offered as a regularly scheduled public course,
but is available to private groups. The course is ideal for a
group of friends, community group, or school
group. We recommend having a group of at
least 8 participants, but there is no minimum
requirement. Pricing is dependent on your
group size.
